This section is a gallery of letters found within the file folders of the UMBC Underwood and Underwood collection. The correspondences between freelance photographers and Underwood executives often span several months, and some include pictures as a sample of the photographer's work. These letters show how the company interacted with photographers and acquired new images. Additionally, these give great insight into Underwood and Underwood's business practices and goals. Letters like these along with other primary and secondary sources were essentail in building the comapny's narrative and understanding Underwood and Underwood's business model, which propeleld them to become a pioneer photo syndicate.
